Pre-School Program
The pre-school program is a play-based program for 3-year-olds. This means that the children learn as they play. The classroom is set up to intrigue and delight the children. The materials and props available change as we explore different themes together. The children learn social, language, math, scientific, and artistic skills as they interact with others and the classroom environment. We strive to provide learning opportunities around things that interest your child. Parent involvement with various projects and adventures is necessary. Building a connection between home and school really motivates children and helps them understand new concepts in a meaningful way. The pre-school is full of fun and adventure for everyone. Our program involves the whole child in learning respect for individual differences and celebration of and talents.
Our mornings together follow a basic routine:
We begin with a time for free play.*
We then have a circle time (with singing, calendar, and weather reports).
Next we share snack and play outside.
We gather for a learning center that includes a theme related activity.
We end the day with more free play.
* Free play times include opportunities for theme related projects and activities.
We venture outside the school on several field trips each year after the children are comfortable with the classroom and their new friends. The trips provide an opportunity to explore the world around us and discover new people and places in the local community. First hand experiences offer great potential for new learning experiences. We hope that all parents will share the fun and join us on one or two trips during the year!
